More scenes, puzzles and adventure. Intricately woven mini-games. Rated 5 out of 5 by upsysydaisy from HOGs, HOGs and More HOGs!! This was an excellent game, nice and long. It was almost too much of a good thing with what seemed 1000s of things to find. It was quite challenging because all the items were very small and well blended into the scene. I really loved that and felt a great sense of relief and satisfaction when I found everything.
I always try not to use a hint (don't like cheating), but have to admit I gave in a few times so I could avoid 'brain-freeze'. The puzzles (for me) were hard to figure out with minimal or no instruction and they were challenging.
There is no skip but pay attention and you will see how your hint button gets you out of a game. The hint system involves finding insects, they are very little and hard to see with their colors blending so well. I try to find them all at the very beginning, 5 being the most you can have.
However, twice I had 6 of them but have no idea how that happened. Must have done something to EARN an extra hint. Also, very important to find the explorer's notebook page. There is only one in each scene and the map will indicate as a 'reminder' that it is there.
Without these pages you cannot follow the adventure and story, and you will miss some hints for the games which are mixed in with the notes. All the scenes are very interesting, absolutely overflowing with objects. Some scenes are very colorful and some are gray and dull. But the graphics are good and clear. The Beetle Temple and its contents near the end of the game has a different color scheme going on. You earn points and increase/decrease your rank and title as the game progresses.
Hidden Expedition Amazon Walkthrough Hints
Every little accomplishment makes a big difference, if you enjoy challenging yourself. AMAZON wore me out, did my Happy Dance when it was over. I always enjoy these Hidden Expedition games, each one is very different from the others in the series, and this one was a very busy and fun hidden object game. Good idea to have a magnifying glass handy!! Rated 5 out of 5 by kstormgemini from Fun to play And Replay! I have this one on my other computer and I have to say I played it to death until the poor old compy died!
Lol Truth be known, this is my Favorite of this series. Yes it's not rocket science if you're used to HOGs but it's still a nice game to play. I tended to play it when I was tired or sick of my other games.
I just wish they had it in a CE. It would be great if they added something to make it a little longer for those of us who've been playing these games for a while. But all in all, it's worth the purchase.
Even if you Are an old hand at HOGs.;). Rated 5 out of 5 by AverageSizeFish from Really Great HOG I like a HOG that focuses on puzzles and hidden object scenes and Amazon delivers. There is a cute and often amusing story that unfolds between each grouping of HOS and puzzles which is icing on the cake. There is no running around wondering what to do with an item in your inventory or where to go next which is a huge plus IMO.
Instead of clicking through scene after scene scurrying back and forth you just play puzzles and find objects which given that it's a HOG is exactly what's wanted. Don't let the age of the game dissuade you.the graphics look great on my newer machine and the cleverness of the puzzles and HOS make them better than what I've seen in many newer games. I really wish there were more games like this. Rated 5 out of 5 by MoreTaskGamesPls from The best HOG I have ever played!
I love HOGs, and this game is the standard by which all HOGs should be developed! The storyline is fairly typical.you are retracing the footsteps of a missing person in order to find them.
What isn't typical is how you go about your quest. In order to advance, you have to complete many tasks.
Sometimes the task you complete helps you find a hidden object, and sometimes the task you complete is the only way to advance in the game. I absolutely love figuring out tasks in any game, so this is a winner in my book. The music for this game is FANTASTIC. I dearly wish Big Fish would introduce a collector's edition that includes the soundtrack for this game so I could play the music while going about other tasks. It's very Indiana Jones-y style music that ramps up the excitement as you play. The hidden object scenes are amazing. Most of them have some animation, such as flying birds and running waterways, that add to the beauty of the scene.
The scenes themselves are very well drawn, and the objects to find often blend in so well you will find yourself inching over to the hint button. As a rule, I never use hints in HOGs, preferring the challenge of finding something through persistence. This game stretched my persistence to the limit, which was great. Added bonus: there were no repeated scenes, which is my big gripe with many HOGs. Speaking of hints, in each scene you can find five beetles. When you find all five beetles, you receive an extra hint, which some players might appreciate. The beetles themselves are often challenging to find, so don't take those extra hints for granted!
As you advance through the game, you can also find a journal page in each scene, and it is through these journal pages that you learn of the steps the missing person took on his journey. These journal pages are excellent!
They are so funny and they often include important clues to help you complete a task. The mini game tasks that you must complete to advance are not the standard mini games you run across. There is a task in which you have to use bars to connect electrical wires together to light up some bulbs. There's a task in which you place spheres on a platform to make certain patterns in colors or lights.
There's a task to form a certain pattern that uses monkeys as weights. Each task includes a note, often well hidden, on how to complete the task successfully. The notes are fairly cryptic, making completing the tasks very challenging, which is excellent.
To sum up: this game was worth every penny I paid, and I'd gladly pay more pennies for a collector's edition that included a bonus soundtrack. I only just started playing the Hidden Expedition series a couple of weeks ago, and I've finished playing them all, some of them twice over, because they are so well done. Big Fish, please create more games like this!!!
